Nick Sholley originally moved out to San Francisco to study at the
American Conservatory Theater two summers ago. Eight weeks of study
became one hundred weeks of successive plays and very agreeable living.
This is his first Fringe Festival, and "The Demon Pope" marks his first
appearance as a Holy Roman Emperor.
And yea verily, it might be said that five years' of Latin study could
very well pay off now that the world has gone dark again with the
approach of the millenium. But then again, e pluribus unum and quod
erat nabisco could bite the terra firma when Y2K comes knocking and we
find ourselves Latin-locked even though we semper ubi sub ubi. And a
clean pair at that. With the twice daily showers, up from one a year.
And as the young poet Otto never wrote:
Soul-spastic hygiene
Naked Christ magazine
Keep the data clean
Despite the slick sweat sheen
We do what we can
to displease the man
only to find
with passing time
that he
is we.
It's not the learning or the earning. It's the yearning.
Peace to your collective aura.
